I'm Paul Hebner and I can be your Private Writer.

I’ve been a professional writer, editor, and teacher for 25 years. Now I can share my experience and skills so you can enjoy the many benefits that come from delivering well-written documents.

I tell people I’ve written everything except Hallmark cards. I used to include obituaries in that list, but I’ve written a few of those lately. I also haven’t written the great American novel—yet.

As a business writer, I've developed a specialty in communicating complicated ideas to a broad audience clearly, creatively, and concisely. As a creative writer, I've had personal narrative's and poems published, numerous letters published in The New York Times, and I wrote and produced a short play.

I received a bachelor’s degree from New York University in 1988, earning a Founder’s Day Award, the University’s highest award for academic excellence. I also received a special certificate from The University of Oxford, UK., for the Summer of Science Program in 1986.

It’s just about impossible to be a successful writer and editor without also being an effective teacher. That’s certainly been my experience and that’s what set’s my Private Writer services apart from all the writing courses and editing services out there. I don’t just correct your documents or re-write them for you. I explain why your writing doesn’t produce the results you need and I teach you practical skills to improve.

I began teaching business writing skills formally in 1998 at Eastman Software Corporation and have since worked extensively with the Gotham Writers' Workshop. I have an exclusive six-step formula for clear, concise, and grammatically correct writing that is easy and intuitive.

While great literature may require great talent, effective writing (defined as clear, concise, and correct) is a skill that can be acquired and perfected through sensible teaching and practice.
